Gut Health

The Second Brain

“All disease begins in the gut” is a quote from Greek physician Hippocrates that dates back over 2000 years ago and still remains true! Cancer, eczema/psoriasis, weight gain, autoimmune disorders, heartburn, allergies, asthma, depression, bowel disorders, heart disease, the list is endless. For some people its nonspecific symptoms, such as bloating, discomfort after meals, constipation, diarrhea. Does this sound like you?

The gut is the epicenter of our health, and is interconnected with not only our physical state, but our emotional state as well. Expressions such as “a gut feeling” or “butterflies in your stomach” reflect how our gut affects our entire being!

The intestinal system not only houses the majority of our immune cells, but many of our neurotransmitters (such as serotonin, our happy hormone) are manufactured here. In fact, the gut provides approximately 95% of our serotonin, which is why our gut health is so strongly linked to our mood and is known as the enteric nervous system.

Overall, many disease processes start in the digestive tract because of inflammation. It is important to discover the source of the inflammation to help the gut heal properly. When the inflammation becomes uncontrolled it turns into leaky gut, also known as intestinal permeability. A leaky gut causes undigested food, medications, or supplements to enter our bloodstream and send our immune system to fight off these foreign “invaders”.

Our body goes into fight mode and sets off a chain reaction of negative consequences that impact our whole body. At Rooted Rose we know the importance of a healthy gut and this is where we start!

People are looking to their medical providers for solutions but unfortunately, many traditional providers can only offer medications for your symptoms. Yeast infection, or candida overgrowth?  Here is a prescription. Constipation, rash, acne, heartburn, asthma?  Prescription, prescription, prescription!

There are times that medication can be life-saving, but when dealing with chronic issues related to your gut health, there are natural solutions that can eliminate the issue permanently without unwanted side-effects.

At Rooted Rose we know the importance of a healthy gut and understand that having a healthy gut is the foundation of everything we do.

We will guide you through healing your gut and teach you how to nourish your body properly so you feel empowered to live a vibrant, healthy life!
